Mr. Lawal Abubakar

Nigeria

My name is Lawal Abubakar, 47 years old, from Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria. I started experiencing pains on my left hip when I was studying in United Kingdom around May, 2009. However when I came back to Nigeria , X-ray report showed that the head of my left hip was damaged and need to be replaced through total hip replacement surgery. I contacted hospitals in Nigeria, Egypt and United Kingdom, but was not satisfied.

In my search for quality but cheap THR surgery, I came across “Treatment Assistance” of India through search in the internet. I wrote an e-mail to them about my problem. Within 24 hours, they responded to my mail and gave me a phone call and requested me to forward my health profile and documents to them. After forwarding these documents to them, within 48 hours they forwarded an assessment of my problem which was done by an orthopedic and joint replacement surgeon in India together with solution for my condition, which is THR surgery and the cost of the surgery.

When I received this information from the Treatment Assistance, I looked at the profile of the doctor and his experience, the medical facilities and services at the hospital and the cost of the surgery. Based on these indices and the result of my findings, I decided to have my surgery in India, which I communicated to the Treatment Assistance in India. Within 24 hours they responded by sending invitation letter for medical treatment and VISA application form and follow-up with series of phone calls to support the getting of my VISA. I got my Indian VISA within 3 days from the date of submission of my application. I arranged for my air ticket with Ethiopian Airlines and traveled to Delhi, India on 2nd May and arrived on 3rd May 2011.

I was picked from Delhi Airport by the representative of the Treatment Assistance and taken directly to the hospital. I was admitted to the hospital instantly. The doctor that will conduct my surgery came immediately and ordered for my bio-chemical profile, laboratory tests, including the x-rays of my hips. The results of the tests were out in less than 12 hours and I was booked for surgery the next day. I had my surgery of total hip replacement on 4th May 2011 which was successful. A day after my surgery I started walking with the aid of a walker. It was unbelievable to me.

I stayed in the hospital for a period of one week after the surgery. Within that period the doctors, nurses and supportive staff responded to all my medical requests very promptly and in a friendly and respectful manner. My privacy, confidentiality and dignity were well respected by the hospital staff. I was also served with 3 well balanced meals and two snacks every day. A physiotherapist visits me daily and assists me in conducting physiotherapy exercises. Right now, I am in my second week after surgery. I can sit, lie down and walk freely with a walker without pain.

Finally, I wish to express my appreciation to the Treatment Assistance for guiding me through out the process of getting medical intervention for my damaged hip and also for linking me to best hospital in India, who have done a wonderful job to me in restoring my damaged hip. I am now free from pain that I suffered with for 2 years. I am now ready to go back to my normal physical activities, with a newly installed hardware, that is the new hip.
