Septoplasty is the surgery done to correct a deviated (not straight) septum — the septum is the midline structure made of bone and cartilage dividing your two nostrils. In septoplasty, your nasal septum is made straight and repositioned in the center of your nose.
What is Endoscopic Septoplasty?
Endoscopic septoplasty is an attractive and minimally invasive alternative to traditional approaches to septoplasty. The chief advantage of the technique is the ability to reduce morbidity and postoperative swelling in septal deviations by limiting the dissection to the area of the nasal deviation. This capability to markedly reduce the extent of tissue dissection is particularly valuable in patients who have undergone prior septal cartilage resection.

The advantages include better & improved visualization, particularly in septal deformities not seen very visibly; improved surgical approach even to sinuses; and it even is effective as a teaching tool.The surgical procedure is performed under the influence of general anesthesia and requires immobilization and postoperative care to recover well.
